Unlike TVs or projectors, LED video walls have no bezels, operate at extreme brightness, and can be configured in any aspect ratio. They are used for events, concerts, corporate lobbies, retail spaces, command centres, and outdoor advertising.
An active LED video wall uses active matrix driver ICs on each panel for precise per-pixel brightness and colour control. This delivers higher uniformity, better greyscale at low brightness, and higher refresh rates compared to passive designs. Most modern indoor fine-pitch LED video walls are active matrix, operating at 3,840 Hz or higher to appear flicker-free on camera.
The right pixel pitch depends on your minimum viewing distance. A simple formula: pixel pitch (mm) ≈ viewing distance (metres) ÷ 4. For a conference room with viewers at 3m, P0.9–P1.5 is ideal.
